Start of the career
After making his acting debut in 2004, playing the lead role in the Dutch movie ‘Pluk van de Petteflet’ (2004) Janieck played roles in the movies ‘Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek’ and ‘My Queen Karo’. During those movies he started playing the guitar in order to kill time on the set. At the age of 14 Janieck showcased his songwriting talent with the first song he recorded, entitled “A Better Man”. This song is about taking chances and driving personal change, giving an early insight into his style and character that would define Janieck’ s success as a singer-songwriter in the years that would follow.
Reality & works
The song “Reality” he co-wrote with the Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies, rocketed Janieck’ s career at the age of 21, topping the European sales and airplay charts in 2015. Following this success Janieck got signed to Spinnin' Records in 2016, where he released his successful solo singles such as 'Feel The Love' and ’Does it Matter”. In 2017 the song 'Little Hollywood', a collaboration between Janieck and the German DJ Alle Farben, became the #1 airplay song in Germany. The single was eventually nominated for the 1Live Award for best single of 2017. The year 2018 started with the release of the single ‘You Don’t Have To Like It”, a collaboration between Janieck and DJ act Lucas & Steve, and a single collaboration entitled “To Rome” with the artist Deepend. In 2019 Janieck dropped his vocals on the notorious hit 'Narcotic’, a cover of the famous 90's hit by Liquido that was lyrically adapted by Janieck for the 2019 release. Together with the artists Younotus and Senex, ‘Narcotic’ now counts over 75 million streams, and in 2019 peaked at #2 on Germany's Radio Airplay Chart. Janieck’ s first solo release of 2020 entitled 'How (Do I Love You)' marks his return to his more traditional and somewhat atmospheric songwriting, reminiscent of his former hit ‘Feel the Love’, this time again coupled with his characteristically moody vocal delivery. 'How (Do I Love You)' is the song of an artist looking for answers, sharing his doubts with everyone who feels the same in the uncertain times that seem to dominate our world right now.
Inspiration
Looking at the musical body of work of Janieck, it may not come as a surprise that he is a great admirer of artists like John Mayer and Ed Sheeran. But not many people would expect him to be inspired by My Chemical Romance, Greenday and Enya. They all have one thing in common; when you strip down the songs of these artists, all that remains are simple melodies that stick to the mind and inspire.
JNCK live performance
On stage Janieck performs with electronic producer and DJ Julius, and the Dutch guitarist Laura providing an energetic and vibrant live show, while also getting close and intimate with the largest of audiences.
